The Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting Friday, January 16, 2009 at Concord's Embassy Suites. More than 500 members were in attendance.
2008 Small Business of the Year was awarded to Southgate Masonry & Lumber Company
Citizen of the Year was awarded to Dr. L. Allen Dobson for his accomplishments in the medical field including the growth of his practice, Cabarrus Family Medicine
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Gina Goff, Jim Monroe and Robin Hayes.
The Chamber also recognized three individuals for outstanding service on the Ambassadors Council: Wayne King, Gary Bunn and Michael Hunsuck.
Also recognized: Gayle Deal, who is retiring from the Chamber's Board of Directors, was honored for serving in several capacities for the Kannapolis, Concord and the merged Cabarrus Regional Chamber for the past 21 years; Benny Darden, who is retiring form the Chamber's Board of Directors; and Pam Hayworth, vice president of finances and facilities for the Chamber, who was recognized for 10 years of service to the Cabarrus Regional Chamber.
