monitor to be recycledNow that Christmas is over and you managed to get a new T.V. or computer, what are you going to do with the old one?  It is illegal to throw it in the trash since there is a good deal of lead in most units.  So do you keep the old one?  No, now you can recycle your T.V. in Eureka in an eco-friendly way at Earthbound Recycling.

CRT's $10.00
TV's $20.00 to $35.00, depending on size.
Other electronics are free.*

Earthbound Recycling is located south of Highway 44 off Highway 109 at 25 Truitt Dr.  It is 1/4 of a mile south of Highway 44 on Highway 109.  They are open Mon-Sat. from 9 until 5.  If you have questions, their phone number is:  636-938-1188.

I have a bunch of monitors to recycle due to a couple of techy computer geeks living in my household....

Ann, it's good you have announced a resource for this recycling. Many want to do this but don't know where to turn.

Gary,

I was so happy to find out about this one.  It is close to my home.  I know of another one but it is over 40 miles away.

I do, however, take my recycling efforts seriously!  I drive over 20 to recycle household  items.

Always a pleasure to hear from you,

Ann

Ann our local landfill has a drop off area for these items.  The cost is also $10, but it is per load, as long as it all fits into one vehicle.

It is always a challenge to get rid of the old electronics. Sounds like you have it covered.

I too have been thinking of the mountains of old televisions come February or whenever if they do postpone the digital switchover.   We have a similar program (though I think it's more $$ - at least $25). Clearly not everyone knows about it because just up the block from me an absolutely enormous TV sat on / blocked the sidewalk for 2-3 weeks until they got the message from the DPW. This is very helpful info to post.

Sandy,

I think everyone should be concerned about recycling.  We all have too much stuff going into the landfills.

We don't fix things anymore, we replace them. So, It's crazy how much electronics are out there. Just think about cell phones. Everyone gets a new one every 1 to 3 years.
