Is your car projects ever done????????

Matt1965 bugI know alot of you are car guys and girls...but am I crazy??? Do you have project cars that never seem to get done, or is it just me?

I started to work on a project, its a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle but every time I go back on it something happens life changing, We got the bug about 5 years ago. the woman and I start working on it, so 4 or 5 nights a week we are in the garage tearing it down stripping paint hammering dents...

The next thing you know shes preganent...(I'm not sure how that happened but she don't go in the garage anymore).so she can't be around the dust and fumes so I start to work on it less and less....Well then comes along Matt.. my boy ...well I guess I am going to start working on the bug again....

Wrong I am buying a bigger house...not a new one, not one you can move right into, but one that it self needs restored...(will the bug ever get done)

So we move in the new house (not totaly done but close) I decide to take a day to work on the bug just figure out whats going on where I left off you know.....(I'm hiding in the garage away from everybody)...I'm only out there for 2-3 hours my buddy calles me....my apartments are ON-FIRE can you beleive this??????(nobody was hurt in the fire).......

So I'm wondering is this bug destined to rot to the ground? Or this spring should I chance starting on it again...possibly having something life changing happen to me? FIRE, BIGGER HOUSE, or another snot nosed KIDD that I can play cars with and stay young as he grows older.....

my 3 year old Matt he is a car guy also.....and I wouldn't trade him for all the VW bugs in the world..

I bought a 1951 Chevrolet DeLuxe in November and the only thing I've been able to do to it since the day I bought it was sand a small, really small section of the roof to see what the original color of the car was. I am really hoping that I get that done, but I do realize that I need to work on it to get it done.

My project cars are never done but many see street and track time before being painted.  It is much better to shake out the gremlins BEFORE taking the time to paint them.

Sam, I hear you on that....this was a running car, when I got it it sat since 1977-78 can't remember exact year....I got it running then tore it apart for total restoration......that's when my story began.....peace zane

Ran across this post in the Car buff channel, and once again Zane, you crack me up. Great shot of the little car guy, maybe give him a wrench and he'll have it done by spring.

VW's and snow!  What a great mix.  Good luck getting the project car work started this spring.  At least you got a project car.  Time slips away quickly and I have not had time to think about a project car lately.    Used to want a Karhman Ghia convertibel to turn into a roadster.  Sunny TN - if it's not wamr enough for the top to be off I don't want to go driving.  My 1999 Miata stayed topless all this past summer.  I only run it now short trips to keep the battery strong.

Good Luck and hope the little one takes to cars to work on it with you, it is a great father to son time.  I still remember engine swapping and the whole lot with my dad.
