Sellers, please clean up your walkway or it could really cost you

One of my buyers was looking at a house and the mother in law also came over to check out the house. But as she was walking up the sidewalk to the house, there were walnuts everywhere and she stepped on one, lost her balance, and broke her ankle.

Now, the sale still went through, but it almost didn't. You see, because the mother-in-law had to file a claim against the insurance agency to get the medical bills paid, the CLUE report that came back for the buyers said that the home was considered a risk because of other past claims the house had during its 25 years of life.

Now, the mother didn't sue or even ask the insurance company for pain and suffering, she just wanted the bills paid. But, 2 minutes of sweeping up those walnuts could have saved a lot of people time, money, and pain.

So, please clean up your walkways or it could be a lot worse.

Todd, I've long complained to listing agents how they need to take action before someone takes a tumble. Now I have an example...

Todd-We can't grow walnuts here. They would get moldy real fast! Even the palm trees that were brought over from southern CA where they grow dates, can not grow dates here, actually they can, called moldy dates. But we do have awesome coconuts falling down off our coconut tree right now, this just reminded me I need to go pick some off the lawn before the lawn guy mows the lawn tomorrow.:) Happy Monday!

Morning Todd,

Same holds true here, pine cones are another source of ground clutter that presents a walkway hazard.

I had one up here with snow and the sister fell and sued the sister who owned the home.  She sued just for insurance coverage, but it devolved into a family tradgedy.  Just too bad.

Todd, here we have acorns - or we did!  The poor squirrels are going nuts because there are almost none this year!  And that is great advice!
