Look out for Tax Rebate Scam

The South Carolina Department Of Consumer Affairs is warning residents of a newly resurrected tax-rebate scam that first appeared about this time last year. Teh rip-off centers around the possibility of the federal goverment sending out a second round of stimulus checks. Con artists pose as goverment officials and try to solicit information from people such as bank numbers and social security numbers as this info is needed to get the second stimulus check.

They have added on a second scam where they now also sell this people information about goverment owned foreclosure properties hoping someone will be greedy looking for the deal of a lifetime which we all know does not exist. This scam actually tells people they will get paid to buy goverment owned homes.

There is no second rebate check and there is no goverment program that will pay you money to buy foreclosed properties. Please pass along as I am sure this scam will be in all 50 states soon, if not already.
