Are you using LinkedIn to it’s full potential? For a long time, about all you really used LinkedIn for was to place your profile, and maybe make a few connections. However, they’ve really added quite a few handy new features, and I’m afraid that too many agents aren’t taking advantage of them.
Here are ways that LinkedIn can help you grow and nurture your current network:
- To be found by potential clients, investors or business associates, make sure to:
- Completely fill out current and past company info and educational info
- Try out the new LinkedIn search to find people locally that you may know, or want to connect with
- Take advantage of the new applications to promote your services, skills, knowledge, etc. Google Presentation and Slideshare are two good ones, but get creative! My Travel lets you see who’s traveling to your area. Why not send them a good restaurant or hot night spot recommendation? This lets you establish yourself as an area expert in a very low-key way.
- Join a variety of groups and participate. These can be local groups, professional groups, groups related to your hobbies, etc. Then connect with members of these groups as well.
- Deepen current connections by:
- Importing email addresses to see if people you contact are already on LinkedIn. If not, invite them! Realtor®
- Give and get recommendations from coworkers, clients, associates, etc. to help you show up on the newsfeed
- Update your status regularly to let your current network know what you’re up to. This also helps you stay fresh and in their minds as they see your name regularly, related to real estate
- Follow other people’s statuses, and be sure to comment, congratulate, share as appropriate
- Increase industry connections, knowledge, expertise
- Join industry groups
- Post Questions and Answers to gain or share knowledge
- Monitor what people are saying about you with the Company Buzz application
