The Lake has over 75 miles of shoreline, totaling over 7,565 acres of surface area. Lake Jocassee offers two public boat launches. Lake Jocassee is a full recreational lake, allowing jet skis, water skiing, swimming, tubing, boat docks, fishing, and other water activities.  The lake is a fisherman's paradise since it abounds with many species of fish. Water flows directly from Appalachian streams making the water clear, cold and one of the most pristine lakes in the nation. It is surrounded by 40,000 acres of protected area owned by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources referred to as the Jocassee Gorges Wilderness.
