One of the fastest ways to build a successful business is by training. Now, with me, I like to invest significant time immersing myself in training, while some people prefer to take it in bite-size chunks. Whatever your preference is, now is the best time to contact me.

CNE is not a NAR designation

While NAR offers over 16 designations, NAR does not currently offer a negotiation designation.

According to the Swanepoel 2008 Trends Report there are over 60 designations available to real estate professionals. NAR owns less than 20 of these designations or about 30%.

Per NAR’s website, “NAR's bylaws prohibit from "recognizing" third-party industry designations. With the large number of professional designation programs available, NAR does not have the resources to actively review and monitor the quality of these programs and therefore, it would be inappropriate to comment on the level of quality. We encourage members to carefully review the curriculum and ask for references before proceeding.”

NAR’s own Code of Ethics does not limit advertising to only NAR designations.

Standard of Practice 12-13 states: “The obligation to present a true picture in advertising, marketing, and representations allows REALTORS® to use and display only professional designations, certifications, and other credentials to which they are legitimately entitled.”

The CNE designation is a “professional designation” and agents who attend the 2-day CNE seminar are “legitimately entitled” to the CNE designation. I hope this answers your questions.

For those with REALTOR designations ...

Did NAR (National Association of Realtors) disclose to you before you took the class that you would need to pay them every year to rent your designation?

Did NAR disclose the additional annual fee when they advertised this class?

Did NAR disclose to you how much the annual renewal fee would be before you took the class?

We are talking ethics here, are we not?

No one I know with a designation knew about these extra fees. Why is that?

Why would NAR fail to disclose annual fees, as they advertise these designations? Could it be becuase you would not take their classes?

Please email me with your NAR concerns:        Seattlebroker1@aol.com

Thanks!

Just completed the CNE class presented by Jeffrey Stanton in Roseville, California.  The two day class was excellent and provided in depth training on key aspects of one of the most neglected areas in Real Estate training - the power of using the right words.  I enjoyed the class and it was well worth the $ spent.  Since it's a relatively short class for the amount of material covered, you are provided with lots of practice material to reinforce what you learn.  After taking the class it's easy to explain to clients how the CNE differentiates you from the crowd, and definitely added more tools to my consulting toolbox.  Thanks Jeffrey!
