Hometown Heroes Home Ownership Program

Yesterday was the official release our Hometown Heroes Home Ownership Program (HHHOP) despite our printer not having our brochures ready.

I developed this program within my local community to honor those that have given of themselves to make our community safer and better.  Open to all military personnel, law enforcement, firefighters, EMT/paramedics, teachers, and nurses, this program helps the "Heroes" get into a new home or refinance an existing home with minimal closing costs.

                                                      Nurses, EMT/Paramedics, Military Personnel

With this program, I have brought together several real estate agents/Realtors, a title company, an appraiser, and several other businesses to make sure that the best services are offered.  Each company has introduced their own incentive to the program.  For example: The real estate agents/Realtors are giving back a minimum of $500 of their own commissions towards closing costs.  The title company is reducing their fees $250.  The appraisal company is lowering their fees.

Even more incentives with the programs... I have several companies that are not real estate related asking to advertise with the brochures their services at a discounted price.  Just to give an example of one: Simply Organized 4 U is offering to help pack, move and unpack.  The service also includes going through and getting rid of what is not needed in the new home

                                                   Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Teachers

There are so many options available with a program like this.  For instance... just last night, I mentioned this program at our local Young Republicans meeting.  One of the items for discussion was fund-raising.  The bells and whistles went off in my head.  I mentioned the program, as most of the people that attended are the key people who oversee the "Heroes."  After mentioning the program, I concluded that I would donate $150 for each HHHOP loan that closes.  Needless to say, they want that money, so they will promote the program to "Heroes."

what a great idea!  We also offer those community loans but to network and have the others join in the discounts - title companies, appraisers, etc is a great idea!  If you can, can you send me a copy of your flyer?

Naoma,

Sure, I can send you a flyer, but I need your email address to do so.  AR does not allow for attachments through the contact feature.

Fantastic idea!

Every little bit helps when you're talking about the biggest transaction in someone's life.

George,

The purpose of this post was to share the marketing idea with others, so they can create their own local program.  The good part about it is you build a great referal base with the other parties involved.  It is a win-win for everyone.

If you want to know more about setting up your own, please let me know and I will share how I got it going.

Thanks, Jason.  We also have a modified version of what you are doing, and we use "My Community" as the Loan Product to do it through.  You have taken it beyond what we do by providing incentives to these organizations as well as other organizations for referring people to you that would qualify for this.  I like the approach that you have taken and will be suggesting that we also expand what we are doing to include some of this.

I always thought these programs were available in every community.  Have I been fooling myself once again about life and how it should work!!  In Downtown Grand Rapids Michigan there is a huge hospital and their professionals are almost "paid" to move into this community.

Here, in Jacksonville Florida I hope the same benefits are offered for these service driven professionals!!!!!  It would be very sad to find out otherwise.

Kim,

There are variation of things like this out there.  The probelm is finding those brokers that acknowledge such a program.

What I am sharing with the AR community is how to put a twist to these current programs by including other parties of the home purchase/finance procedure and offering incentives of helping with closing costs.

As for your comment about Jacksonville and a program like this, I have good news... My program, even though I mentioned is local, is techincally available throughout the state of Florida.
