Is the real estate market really that bad?

By
Real Estate Agent with Allen & Selig Realty

I get tired of all of the doom and gloom around real estate these days!  Is it tougher than it was when I moved back to Maine in 2002?  Well heck yes, it sure is!  Coming here from selling in Nova Scotia, I realized that the real estate professionals in the great state of Maine didn't realize just how good it was.  We were listing houses in greater Portland and expecting multiple offers in a day.  Houses were flying off the market for more than the asking price...things were real good!

Now...7 years later and things are different...but they are not dead!!  Houses that are listed for the right price are still getting attention.  Properties that are well presented and marketed to the internet are still getting noticed!  After puttiing two listings under contract this week, I say...put your nose to the grindstone and let's sell some real estate.  With interest rates at an amazing low, the prices down across the state and buyers that have been sitting on the fence ready to jump...I say NOW is the time to get your money into the Maine real estate market!

I think the old saying, "if you think you can't, you are probably right" is perfect for this time! Get out there, Buyers are getting off the fence....help them, Make sure your Sellers houses are really priced right!  Give loyalty and you will get loyalty!  I know that is what we intend to do at ALlen & Selig Realty in North Yarmouth Maine.  Check us out on the web at: www.allenselig.com

Hi Janice,

A million miles apart geographically but we are both on the same page. Time to break out the pom-poms and start cheering. Our buyers need confidence and they want a Realtor who hasn't thrown in the towel! I promise if I know anyone heading up to Maine I'll send them your way! Keep up the good attitude. I have family in Newfoundland that I have promised to visit. I may look you up if I make the treck from Georgia!

Sincerely,

Karin Elliott
