Obama's Inaugural Speech In A Unique Format...Word Clouds!

Obama Delivers his inaugural speech

Regardless of which side of the aisle you subscribe to, today Barack Obama gave a pretty powerful and uplifting inaugural speech. Full of hope and inspiration, even some of America's die hard Republican leaders found it to be an excellent speech.

By now you've either heard it or seen the transcript, but you've probably not seen it in a "word cloud" or a "Wordle" created using the text of the speech.

A Wordle is a program for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide.

See the blog I wrote the other day on Wordles to learn more.

So, anyway, below is a Wordle I created using the transcript from Obama's Inaugural speech.

Enjoy!

Craig - the President's speech was absolutely incredible.  His message was clear, his delivery was concise and he inspired all ages and ethnicities.  I'm praying that he is able to assemble a strong cabinet that will aid him in pusing America forward.

Craig, great reinforcement for Wordle!  BTW, your post on Wordle was terrific.  I wonder... is there any submliminal message intended in the shape of the above Wordle????    ;-)

Dominic - Thank you! It was an historic day indeed! Let's hope things change for the better soon!

Linda - Good point! Love the Gettysburg Address analogy. Pundits will be pundits.

Lou - Anyone who doesn't stand firmly behind the President right now just doesn't realize how much trouble the country is in. Time will tell if his policies are working. But for now we need to stand as one.

Vickie - Ahhhhh, the power of ActiveRain strikes again!

Huiting - That old adage is true. You learn something new everyday! What you do with that knowledge is up to you now!

Cecily - That's OK. We all have faults!!!!!

Carol - I couldn't agree more. Concise, clear and inspirational. But above all, it was not divisive. It called for unity among all.

Dona - Thank you! And just when you thought you weren't going to learn anything new today!!!

Randy - Thank you for your kind words! I don't think anything subliminal was intended!!! That's for you and your conscience to decide!!!

Caren - Once a Marine, always a Marine......Or something like that, right?!!!

Penny - He is a great speaker. There's no doubt about that. Words are words though. Let's see if the policies he enacts get the job done. I'm optimistic.

Marian - Now, now. Let's let bygones be bygones and move forward. What's in the past is in the past. But I do agree that Obama's speech was very inspirational.

Craig, I didn't like to see the constitution get eviscerated! Remember, those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it. I'm all for moving forward & not repeating!!!
