Video Cameras, Inauguration Day, and YouTube

If ever there was a single day to stress test YouTube's servers, perhaps today is the day.  If you watched any of the Inauguration Day 2009 coverage, you may have noticed something that made it different from any prior inauguration day event.  It seemed like everyone had video cameras.  Whether it was the inaugural proceedings on the mall, the parade, or the inaugural balls, it was a sea of people with arms up, recording the event.

My guess is that within the next 24 hours, thousands, if not tens of thousands of those videos will make it to video hosting sites like YouTube.  YouTube statistics indicate that they get an average of 65,000 uploads per day, but if ever there was to be an extra busy day, I am guessing today would be it.  If YouTube can make it through today without any hiccups, my hats off to them.
