Another of my fond memories and BIG learning lessons was Christmas and my parents hiding the presents......and not under the tree either...hehehehehe :-D
It seems we had a nack for opening up the presents mom and dad bought for us on Christmas...... a snipped couple pieces of tape on a wrapped present re-taped to look like new again and we knew what we were getting and couldn't wait to play with our new stuff.... till the BIG present was bought......for all three of us......
It seems back in the late 60s..... YES I am THAT old...hehehehe .......the newest toy to be HOT was the electronic wired car that you could actually drive, steer and make go forward and backward......you had a little steering wheel and forward and backward buttons..... we BEGGED our dad to buy it for us.....and he said,"If I buy it for you I am not gonna tell you, because it would ruin it for you...so you will just hafta wait till Christmas to find out......
My dad was a Depression baby...he grew up in the 20s when it was very difficult to just to make ends meet from month to month.... toys were out of the question for him when he was growing up.......his toys were his imagination when he read books -- they were cheaper than regular toys for my grandfather to buy...........so for my dad to break out of his NORMAL way of thinking and buy us kids a "LUXURY" toy...that was practically unthinkable....or was it....?
In the comming months leading up to Christmas that year...my dad and mom would always try to find new places to hide the toys they bought us........we ALWAYS found them...... this year they were under the stairway on the bottom floor of the house......when we found them we saw a strange looking LARGE wrapped box.......we shook it gently......and could not figure out what it was.......we debated...and talked about opening it.....my sister told us to not do it (opening the box) because it would ruin it for us and my dad and mom would know we saw it before hand...(they could always read our expresions)...BUT my brother and I knew better...we could "act" suprized if we found that we had gotten the car....RIGHT?
So....we slit the tape on one side and peeled back the wrapping paper...... just orange coloring.......no writing to identify the toy.......RATS.....now I was getting nervous...... could I actually fake out my Dad (I was 5 years old)......? We forged ahead.... we had already done the deed by slitting the first pieces of tape right? The next piece of tape was cut.... WOW!!! It was the car!!!!!......
uhoh...what is that sinking feeling I am feeling..........am I gonna get in trouble? NAH......I will fake out my dad and be so excited to use the car it will mask the nervous feeling I now have that I have betrayed my dads guidance to NOT open the present.......
Christmas comes...I am not excited....I feel like crap....... I get up anyway at 6:00am like an excited kid should with my sister and brother........we open present after present, leaving the BIG present last.......
Do ya know how I felt when we opened it?
That is how you should feel if you betray your clients trust........to make a "deal" and get the "present".......
Telling buyers why your sellers are selling, telling that your sellers might just take a certain offer lower than the selling price, letting buyers know if your sellers are desprate or not, letting competing buyers know other offers in an attempt to jack up the offering price.....
That is a BREACH of your fediciary responsibility............and a fineable and SUE-ABLE offense.......
So ~~~~~ don't do it.......k? ;-D
==========================================================================
BTW......I did act suprized and excited...but I felt my dad knew....and I never opened another Christmas present before Christmas after that...... :-D ~~~~~~~ lesson learned ~~~~~~~
