While on an early morning excursion to the local grocery store in Chapin, SC I become increasingly aware of how automated our lives have become and how much we assume things are what they seem. Of course, I went into the store with a list of 5 items, only five items and came out of the store with over $300. worth of supplies! How can a trip to the grocery store cost more than a car payment? While I was putting the overflowing plastic bags into my truck a man was intently focused on his receipt while walking to his car. He abruptly stopped, looked at me and said, "I just paid $1.99 for bananas!"
A fairly simple concept but one that can potentially save you hundreds of dollars over the course of a year. Check your receipt from the grocery store. Afterall, a penny saved is a penny earned.
