Was having fun supposed to be a part of the job? That 's the one thing that puts this job in perspective...I enjoy it! If you don't enjoy what you do in life you are probably wasting your time as well as the people you work for and with. Unfortunately this is something that is reflected in what you do...your attitude. Even if your try your best to exude the type of attitude that isn't really in your heart, what's really is in your heart is what will shine through. So do everyone a favor, (including yourself) and find something to do that you love...it will make everyone happy!
Oddly enough I do love my job. When I was younger my mother liked to go to open houses ever Sunday. She was never going to buy my father was a contractor and if you was going to get a new house he would build it. Yet she would drag me out ever Sunday. I hated it.
When the family gets together they always laugh about how much I hated looking at houses when I was younger and now I do it for a living. Who would of thought.
Fake it til you make it, eh? Not a bad philosophy except I really do love what I do. That was part of the appeal of going into real estate.
Hi Christina~ It surely makes a difference when you love what you do and it doesn't feel like it s work!
I do love what I do. I'm 4th generation in real estate. I tried to escape it - went to law school, was in a firm, had a firm, but I just really enjoy what I'm doing.
I am a firm believer in enjoying what you do! If I didn't like what Iwas doing, I wouldn't keep doing it!
Hi Christina Jackson,
Yes I try to have fun in all that I do! I agree 100% that having fun will go a long way!
Also Welcome to Active Rain as I see that your new to us this month!
Great Job!

I just made a comment on someone else's blog that I'll repeat here. Some of my best clients have been ones that I've laughed with and kidded good naturedly at open houses. with some, we laugh so much duringthe showing, that we feel like good friends by the time they leave, and I have their contact info and sometimes even a confirmed appointment as they leave. Fun breeds fun!
I have always loved selling Real Estate! And I love to make them laugh! Laughing makes everyone feel good!
Its a funny thing. Back in high school me and a buddy always went to open houses on the weekend just for fun and scoped out properties and new construction sites. And for some reason I had no idea what I wanted to do in life, and my parents didn't recognize my interests or talents. So after high school I went to work for a home improvement store, eventually moving up into management................ for 23 years I did a job I couldn't stand, just because it was a "secure" job. Eventually I was downsized and now at 41 years old I am starting over in a career that i now love, the unknown passion of my youth...........Real Estate.
I left the Mortgage business as it was no longer fun for me. If this quits being fun Ill do the same here.
Christina, I totally agree. If you aren't having fun with what you are doing, maybe it is time to look for something else to do. Thanks.
