Off road biking paths added to the Blythe Island Regional Park.......Brunswick, Georgia

Fred Griffin of Griffin Bike and Mower on Norwich Street in downtown Brunswick is part of an off road biking group in Glynn County.  After years of having to drive long distances to ride off road, Griffin contacted the local officals for the Blythe Island Regional Park to see what could be done.

Griffin and his crews have gone to work in the park and have finished a 5 mile trail that you enter by the park's playground and winds through the a wooded portion of the park.  With construction started on a second 2 1/2 mile trail that starts near the entrance of the park and 400 acres of the park available for trail building, Griffin has plenty of room to make this project grow.

"For someone who loves to ride, but likes to get out in the woods and enjoy nature, the trails at Blythe Island are a great way to get fresh air and quality exercise, said Griffin in an interview by The Brunswick News.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Blythe Island Regional Park.....

Julie...

What a wonderful way to see the Golden Isles. I love to pedal my way around for both the exercise and the experience of smelling the salt air and seeing everything there is to see. Great article and photos, thanks for sharing.

There's a park not far from my home that has some bike trails and my wife and I used to ride them on a regular basis. This looks like another fun place to ride and hang out.

Richard,

I am pleased that they let someone local add bike trails because they wanted them - not so much red tape as I would have expected and just another asset to this incredible area where you can bike probably 350 days out of the year......

Don,

Thank you.  For you, anything.....

JL,

Spend time with your wife and take some photos and write some Localism pieces for us.....I want to know about where you live and your wife wants you to spend some time with her.....

Chuck,

I am the one who came up with ther slogan "where a vacation can last a lifetime" and it really is true.
