Live like a millionaire -- without the millions

Home Stager with Showhomes

Fun post from FloriDUH - a blog about living in the sunny state:

Live like a millionaire -- without the millions

As jobs go, this one doesn't require heavy lifting.

Just go live in a house. And don't be a pig.

Here's the deal.

Linda Saavedra is opening the Tampa franchise of Showhomes.

She's looking for "home managers" to move into some of Tampa's houses until they sell, reports the Tampa Tribune.

You must be compulsively neat, have a home's worth of upscale furniture and don't mind moving every few months.

Still interested?

You don't get paid, just the chance to live like you've got gobs of money when you don't.
(Pardon our skepticism, but isn't that what got us in the mess we're in today?)

You'd take care of the lawn, paying utilities and keeping the home in "show-ready" condition at all times.

Some are worth as much as $5 million or as little as $250,000.

You get to pay for the privilege, too. For example, a home manager would pay $1,000 a month to live in a South Tampa home listed for $670,000.

Sorry, no smoking or pets. And your furniture has to pass muster.

You, with the bean bag chairs and ratty futon.

You're not going anywhere.

Sounds like fun.  Moving constantly.  Oh, its Florida.  You could stay put for months, if not years!

I guess that it would appeal to some people, me not being one of them.  I hate moving!

I have heard of programs like this.  My children and pets kill the deal.

It is a lot of fun and best of all, it really helps sell homes. Home staged with live-in Home Managers who have been trained to keep the home in show-to-sell condition are moving at a brisk rate these days when nothing else is moving.

Sounds like an interesting idea if you like moving all the time.

Perhaps if I were retired and single, but never with a family...

Surprisingly, 60% of Home Managers have kids; the simple reason that many larger homes are family homes and buyers with kids respond far better when its obvious that kids live in the home (and it's amazingly neat, clean and tidy). Home Managers are simply normal people who own nice furniture - we take care to match a Home Manager with the right vacant home for sale so that when its staged, it appeals to the demographic of the buyer.

Possibly a good career for a home stager. Would save some of that warehouse overhead on all the furnitrure. Unfortunately, this stager has 2 dogs and 6 cats. Guess I'll stay put.
