I'm still trying to figure out all the hype with Twitter? Can someone enlighten me?

Do you have a facebook?  The "What are you doing" at the top of Facebook works pretty much the same as Twitter. You can actually connect the two (depending on your cell phone company) and when you update your Twitter, it automatically posts to your Facebook as well.
Everyone says why do I care what you are doing right now?  Well, you might not, but some people actually enjoy knowing, and it can give people a sense of who you are and how you connect with peple around you.  It is a great way to network with your local realtors as well as people from your past and even family.  Twitter is great because there is no big time commitment like Facebook, you just type a quick sentence and you are done.  Simple stuff!

It is a cool idea, and one I have signed up for, but I find it a little creepy when I get the emails that people are now 'following me on Twitter'(am I the only one?).  From a business perspective, however, you can link your blogs to Twitter so that when you post one it gets sent out to the people who are 'following' you. That is how I use it--not to provide constant updates on my activities.

Thanks Holly, I too find it creepy that people are following me! I wonder as a woman why are they following me? I don't know you can never be to careful! I heard that some people are truely being followed. I have been advised not to say specfics as to where I am going. I think we should stay safe!

Bonnie, to be honest, I don't spend too much time on Twitter, and only slightly more on Facebook.  AR is where it is at!!

Wish I could, but I can't. I have a Twitter account, and I get emails all the time saying people are following me, but I don't use my account, apart from sending RSS feeds to it. I haven't had the time to chat, and even if I had a spare moment or two, I can't say anything in 142 characters or less.

Bonnoe-I just got involved with Twitter last week. Facebook is great but Active rain is still the best.

I have not figured Twitter out either. The following thing raises a flag, but our faces and numbers are everywhere. Can we track who is following and ignore as on FaceBook?

Hi Bonnie and others!  We have just started using Twitter, see alot of people providing links on there.  You can just mark yourself as not following someone if you chose.  They are not notified that you blocked them.  Agree though that you shouldn't be specific about where your at.  Did you know you can also use ping.fm.com, put in your comment and chose where you want it uploaded to.  You write one time and it uploads to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Active Rain, whereever you select! One step made easy!
