Photo Editing: Before and After

By
Real Estate Agent with United Realty Group, Inc. BK641413

I did not take the photo below and I don't know who did (it was 'going around' the Internet awhile back).  I wanted to provide an example of how photo editing can be useful and perhaps even give you a reason to laugh.  Aside from making the "after" shot lighter, can you spot why it's useful to learn to edit your photos?

Funny! One of my property photos showed a deer eliminating. I chose to leave it in. No one said anything until I pointed it out. I found that the kids especially loved this photo and felt very special "knowing".

Keep having fun in this wonderful business.

Ok, so at first I kind of liked the first picture better.  The second one was too bright, I couldn't figure out for the life of me why you wouldn't use the first one.  Now that I've looked a little closer.... I still like the first one better!!

Hasn't anyone seen the one with the reflection of the guy with a beer belly in the mirror.  As I recall it was a mirror in a dining room.  He was less well dressed than the guy on the stairs in his underwear. :-)

Awhile back, I managed a real estate office and when I first started working with the online MLS, we hadn't figured out the photo software. So, the agents just cropped the dickens out of pictures to get them small enough.   Of course, leaving the waterfall in the pictures.  The crop turned it into Niagara and really brought in the calls!  And comments about real estate agents and their magic cameras. Then, I learned how to 'smaller' the photos without distorting stuff.   Less fun and fewer calls, but probably better calls.

A few years back we had a listing with the usual 6 pictures showing on MLS (well, someone had the listing, no one in our office I'm glad to say).  It was a 'fixer upper' and the bathroom photo showed really really brown water in the toilet...that was the entire pic!

I have to say, the second photo with the lighter editing shows off the furniture better, but the doggies might have just caused a few agents to show that home!  Thanks for the laugh!

Fran:  I love your sense of humor! ("Puppies For Sale...")

Geri:  If the guy with a beer belly in the mirror was less well dressed than the guy on the stairs in his underwear... are you saying he was naked?  Reminds me of the "ugly naked guy" across the street on the show "Friends".  :-)

Michele:  The big dog must have a lot of patience to not turn around and squash the Chihuahua, but then again, he's wearing a flower lei the humans put on him!  He's probably thinking... "I get no respect"

Thanks for the great pictures, I needed a good laugh.

I guess the Chihuahua likes the full body girls.

There was an appraisal that went through the mortgage community that had two dogs expressing affection for each other in the front yard.

Yes, the appraiser used the photo....or so the story goes.

I don't know...

If you were a dog lover, the fact that those two dogs enjoyed that back yard so much it could be a great selling point.  Just remember dogs need love too. ;o)

Funny, Jeff!  This is one of those photos that's a classic.  Hard to focus on the living room with that going on in the background, huh?

Thanks for the "heads up" Maureen.  Someday I'll get around to re-doing the photo editing to fix what I couldn't see on the old crapped-out monitor I had at the time I originally did it.
