Go Solar - Rent Lower Utility Bills

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams NY Realty

One of the biggest obstacles people associate with transitioning to a "green" lifestyle is the cost.  While some household improvements can run up exhorbitant bills there are many alternatives that allow any homeowner the opportunity to live in a Eco-friendly and budget-friendly home.

Leasing is the newest solution.  Now a homeowner can avoid the huge costs of purchasing and installing new solar powered mechanicals by leasing solar panels.  SolarCity, a family run company leases solar panels.  The utility bill savings is huge and more than covers the cost of leasing the panels.

This offers a great opportunity for families who know purchasing an entire system is out of reach or will price their home out of its own neighborhood.  With the leasing comes free part replacement and system monitoring.  Leases are signed in 5 year increments.   At the end of 5 years homeowners can choose to have the system removed for free, extend the lease another 5 years with the same panels or extend the lease 5 years with the new model of solar panels.

SolarCity will come out and do a completely Free Consultation to determine what exactly your home requires.  Unfortunately, SolarCity has not opened offices on the East Coast yet but they have expressed ambitious plans and are continuing to open new offices.

We hope they'll set up shop in New York soon.  Affordable leasing prices make this a great new chance to save money and be socially responsible.  Check back for updates on this innovative company!

Excellent to know that this is becoming an option. I never would have thought of it. I will have to research to see if it is available in Portland. Thanks for the information!

As far as I know it's only available in California and Arizona right now but it's worth reaching out.  I'm sure as they see demand in a specific area they'll consider it.  I've already sent it a request for them to set up base in New York!

This will most likely become the trend with solar power. We are seeing a boom of new age panels in The Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Water heaters are the most affordable but I have discussed power generation with quite a few clients!

thanks
