FAR forms or local ones?

There is a strong movement here in the Tallahassee Board of Realtors by some who want to see our group adopt the official state forms from the Florida Association of Realtors?  I really do not have a dog in this race and thought it would be interesting to see what other Rainer's experience was in their states.  Of course,  I am interested in anyone else's input who is in Florida, but I do value any experienced Realtor's thoughts regardless of state or country for that matter.

Do you all like standardized state forms or are you also using local forms in your board?  Has this been an issue in your area?

I can't see why you wouldn't want to use a standard state form.  We have standard forms from TAR.  They're drawn up by the broker-lawyer committee, and attorneys are not involved in our transactions since all the contracts are the same, and only fill in the blank... lawyers created them, why pay a lawyer to try to break them during a transaction?

Fought that fight here about three years ago. Our board finally caved and would allow the local attorney to update the local one so we were forced to go with FAR. This actually two of the large companies that want this state wide so all their agents will be using the same contract. Trust me, you'll be the last one standing.

Hi Michael

Using standard forms can clause less mistakes and misunderstanding in the selling and listing process.

Good luck and success

Interesting question -- we use to have several board forms, but for the past 5+years everything has gone to state forms.
