San Antonio Longhorn Cattle Drive

Have you ever seen a real Texas Longhorn Cattle Drive???  I haven't!  For those of us who have never had the opportunity to experience one close up and personal - we have that opportunity this weekend - as spectators - my kind of cattle drive!

Just like the "old pioneer" days, cowboys will "drive" a herd of Texas Longhorns right through the heart of San Antonio, where only trails existed 100 years ago.  I'd really love to get downtown to see this event.

The Cattle Drive begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January, 31, 2009, cowboys will guide the cattle from Houston Street (from Christus Santa Rosa Hospital/I-35) all the way to The Alamo!

It's a FREE Event, so round up the family and friends and head to downtown San Antonio to enjoy it!  Don't forget your camera!!!

I don't think I'll be able to get downtown for the Cattle Drive, so if you go and take pictures, come back to my post and post your pictures to share with everyone!!!

For more information about the Cattle Drive call 210-225-5851.

My Howdy

Morning Judi, my friend

I sure do hope lots of folk's turn out to see the Cattle Drive. I've been a part of these kind of Cattle Drive's. Back in Missouri and up in Wyoming. The eye's of kids would always get so big, when they would see the Cattle moven along the streets. It always felt real good to be part of, letten folk's see a part of Cowboy History. Just like when doing Cowboy Action Shooting.

Judi - be careful when you are out driven today!

God Bless America

Dale, I think seeing the cattle drive downtown would be fun!  Wish I could get down there, but don't think I'll be able to.  It must really be fun to be a part of one of these cattle drives.  You probably got a lot of pleasure watching the little kids get excited when y'all came down the streets!!!  :)

Ceil,  Yeah, having one in downtown New Braunfels would be fun too -- I'm sure they had their share of the real ones back 100 years ago.  Hmmm, I'm sure Tex & Ms. Molly will be there.  Now, I'm really wanting to get down there.  I may just have to see if I can find someone to go down with me -- Don can't go with me and I didn't want to go alone.  But I'm really want to be there and take pictures of it!  :)

Wow, I am mad that i missed this. I would have loved to take my kids to see this. They really enjoy the rodeo and all the events it has to offer. We will have to make a note of this next year and check it out. Where downtown is this located? Thanks for the post. Take care and have a wonderful day. God  Bless

Hi Logan, I'm sorry to say that I also missed it.  Will be watching for it next year and hope I can get downtown to see it.

I think it's starts at I-35 & Houston St. (by Santa Rosa Hospital) and travels down Houston St. to The Alamo.
