Woke up to a snow covered landscape around 7AM. Went downstairs with my old Gordon Setter and took her out to her walk area. Much to my surprise it was sleeting or freezing rain by the time I got outside. While the dog circled her pen, I went for the two papers. Naturally neither were there. Went back, got the dog and went in side. My wonderful wife was already making the coffee and since it was a snow day, hold over from my days as a history teacher, we had bacon and eggs with toast and strawberry jam.
I called my broker to see what was going on at the office, She informed me that we would open at 11AM. I told her I had some ice and could they forward any calls? I was scheduled for floor time at 9AM and I could take them at home. No problem. I have a great broker. She knows I would be there if I could but I also had outside stuff, clearing the snow, to do and no one else was here to do it.
The really good part of the day was when I had another customer call me about looking at a restaurant I have listed after another had called me to tell me that they want to place an offer on the same property. This was followed by a call from a teacher friend who wants me to represent his daughter in the purchase of a home. We are meeting on Saturday at 1:30PM to look at the property she had seen at an Open House. Then I had an investor buddy I play golf with tell me to make some changes in his criteria and he wants to buy some rental properties. On top of that I have an appointment to show my commercial listing in Emmaus tomorrow morning. For a snow day it certainly wasn't a slow day. But it has caused me to ask, do we really need a 900 billion dollar stimulus package filled with pork.
