Secret of Youth: What did you learn today?

By
Real Estate Agent with United Country Ponderosa Realty, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

At the dinner table, we would always ask our daughters,

“What did you learn in school today?”

Usually the conversation was interesting, sometimes we didn’t get a lot of information, and some days the answer was “Nothing”!

I’m sure that “Nothing”translated meant, 'I really don’t want to talk about Math, or spelling, or history'….but I knew they learned something new—everyday! That’s what kids do, they are like little sponges. They soak up all the information they see, hear, taste, smell and feel.

They may not even “know” that they are learning!

Every day, I look for one thing new to learn;  after discovering something new, I used to joke…. “OK, that’s my one thing for the day, I can go home now”!

 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Then, I came upon  active rain !
If I applied that "one thing" rule, I could read the first blog, and go back to bed!
You can learn so many things in just one day!
Maybe you will learn about a new IT website that makes everything easier.
or  how to fix your photos, or see the photos that win the worst MLS photoof the year contest…. And learn what not to do!!
Maybe you will learn about another part of the country, or maybe you will learn something special about someone you have met here!
Maybe you will learn the name of a new flower, a new mortgage product, or new guidelines.
or  how to market better, smarter, or a with a different approach!
Maybe you will learn something about yourself,
or what's going on in your state
or miles away
 Maybe you will learn how to eat the frog!
Maybe you will learn how to load a You-tube video, and remember how much you liked the Doobie Brothers – or some other old band!
Whatever it is, isn't that life's gift?  to continue to learn?
To stay forever young ~ never stop learning!
What was the best thing you learned today?
Mary,
     I would have to say that the one thing I learned today would be that I don't like accounting.  Worked on some homework for a while.  But, I did make 100% on the assignment so maybe I learned I am good at accounting. ????
Mary...
I just had to come back and tell you about the last thing I learned before going to bed last night. After I made a few comments yesterday I asked BB (my husband/alias Broker Bryant) to take me into the garage so that I could open the garage door and take a ride outside. What I learned from that experience is to never go down hill in a wheel chair unless you're absolutely positive you can get yourself back up. I guess it goes with out saying that I had to call BB and have him come get me cuzz I got myself stuck at the end of the driveway :)
TLW...ROAR!
Hi Joshua or Kathy! Thanks for stopping by! 100% is terrific!! Accounting is not my favorite, but isn't it great when you learn that you can even do the things you don't like well!! Congrats on a perfect score!
Good Morning Gena! You are so right! There is an endless supply,with technology especially! It seems like what we learned last year has become outdated... and now there is something new to learn to replace it! Thanks for your thoughts today!
Always learning new things is one of my favorite things about real estate as a career - you sure don't have to worry about getting bored!  But I am also learning the absolute joy of watching my almost 18 month old granddaughter learn about the world.  Remember when noticing your shadow or a bird on a branch or crocuses poking through the soil was the most amazing thing ever?  She helps me be amazed all over again!
How true you are!! That's exactly the way I see it- life is our gift and we need to take advantage of it. That means we need to learn as much as we can, not only for ourselves and for our own success, but to help our fellow man out.
I used to love homework when I was in school and when it was over I was kind of bummed I didn't have any more assignments or projects to do. I guess in a sense we do with our work and our business'. Learning all the different things about everything there is in the world is a huge feat but it feels good to add more to your base of knowledge.
Thanks for sharing and reminding us of the wonderful tool and resource and blessing our minds are and how we can use them to do and learn extraordinary things!
Kind Regards, Nicole Weidauer
