Minimal is the Key to Selling a Home When gearing up to sell your home, keep in mind that potential buyers react well to open spaces. There's nothing worse than walking into a house and becoming claustrophobic by clutter. As humans, we love our clutter, but it works against us when we're trying to sell our home.
In all cases, agents suggest that sellers create a "clean" look for their home. If there is far too much furniture in one room, remove the extra pieces of furniture. Also, you want lots of white space around each piece of artwork hanging on your wall, and piles of books and shoe boxes should not be stacked up against the wall of a room. Your kids toys should also be put away in a toy box.
Dressers, which have the potential for amazing clutter, should be given special care. Those endless rows of half-empty and half-full perfume bottles should put away immediately. Be a minimalist in every sense. This isn't a guarantee that your home will sell, but it certainly puts your house ahead of the other homes that potential buyers will be looking at that day. |
