Wow, now I'm embarrassed as I just stumbled on the BEST!!! list of homeowner resources I've ever seen on the web, from a realtor in Seattle. Not even an hour since I wrote my earlier post about my electricians & plumbers ... oh it's a different world today. The only thing I might add here are web site addresses.

Hi Tina,
In our office we have our "resource list" in a 3-ring binder. It's a compliation of trades people and services that we've used over the years. When we add someone we also add the date and who used that partricular service. It helps when we have the source.
I received this last week from a client:
"I wanted to let you know we were really happy with the referral you gave us.....I can't remember ever receiving such fast service- especially from a contractor...Anyway, thanks for the referral and just thought you might appreciate the feedback..."
I'm in the process of sitting down with each of my clients (I don't call any of them "past" clients as they are still living) and asking them who they use for each type of business and to rate them from 1 - 10.
It will not only give me the most complete Service Directory, but it gives me a great reason to sit down with each of them again, not just to discuss real estate.
and I then have a reason to get to know the best business professionals in my region and can start the conversation with "You know, my great clients, Jim and Sally Smith told me that your business is the very best. In fact they told me you were a 10 out of 10!"
Lynda, Thanks for your comment & I appreciated seeing an explanation of all your designations as I always see the acronyms and now I've read the descriptions which was helpful. I think the certifcation for online training is perfect and wonder if they include Active Rain in that coursework, as you could almost earn the certificate just by participating in this great community.
Rick, What a perfect idea for these slow times, to meet with your clients ... and I'm sure you'll be helping them in the future to find resources they haven't found yet. I'd love to hear how that goes, and will likely share the idea with others as I think it is right on!
This is especially nice for folks who are just moving into town and know no one.
What a great idea! Providing a list of service providers in a listing or buyer packet. I like the idea of collecting recommendations from former clients with a rating system.
