Bushland, Texas can be found in southwest Potter County, just 14 miles west of Amarillo. The town was established in 1908 as a train stop for the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railroad when Henry Bush donated a portion of his 250,000 acre Frying Pan Ranch. Farmers and ranchers then began to flock to the area and settle in the new town. Today, agriculture is still Bushland's main industry. Bushland is also home to the Conservation and Production Research Laboratory. The laboratory is a USDA certified agency that was established to research wind erosion on the Great Plains of the south.
Bushland has great public and private schools. The public school system is served by the Bushland Independent School District, with one elementary, one middle and one high school. Private schools are served by the Bushland First Baptist Church. It's been leading the community's spiritual needs since 1917.

The community is full of parks featuring playgrounds, walking trails, ponds, picnic areas, ballfields, party shelters and a community center.
