We either have the best tasting plants in the neighborhood or don't look menacing enough. My dog sleeps at the foot of the bed---I know not good practice but...! Last night I awoke to a deep throat growl, which in itself is odd because she is a "gnat" of a dog.
Let me regress just a bit. We have a bird feeder and also fill a birdbath up with seed. My husband has been complaining about the ravenous birds lately and prompting me to get a second job just to pay for the feed, not really but anyway, could happen.
Back to last night. I struggled out of bed and opened the back door having forgotten safety, safety, safety. And out on the lawn there arose such...sorry, wrong story... there was a GIANT deer munching away, first seed then our shrub back and forth as if it were a taste comparison. Deer looks up and smirks--I swear! Shoo Shoo--no response other than another nibble of seed. I step outside, not the smartest, but take a few steps toward the muncher. She steps towards me, must think I'm a waitress needing to know if she wants dessert. The dog runs past me and a chase begins---she's chasing the dog!
Finally, she jumps out of the yard. Leaves me a pebble mess and proceeds to the front to sample the cuisene.
Any good advice on how to stop being the neighborhood diner? We have tried the sprays, tape on the trees, and someone suggested big cat urine. I chased that darn cat for a mile and he wouldn't stand still long enough.
All jokes aside, I would sure love to have my plants come Spring!
