Diane needs a new job

Well the inevitable happend today. After a total of 11.5 years with the same company I got the axe today.  I can't say I'm surprised but of course I'm very very upset and in panic mode and the hubby has been on unemployment for 3 months already.

I know its a total long shot but if anybody out there knows of anything in my area (Quakertown/Allentown/Doylestown heck I'd even go to Jersey and maybe Philadelphia and everything inbetween).

My back ground (the short version is), I have a  PA real estate license, I'm a notary public, I have accounts payable experiance (I don't really want to do that again but I would if I had to). My title with this last company was settlement coordinator. Its a new home builder. Dealt with buyers, mortgage companies, title companies, municipal authority, and was a semi-boss to the sales people on the jobsite. And I have my little jewelry biz going on, I'm a Reiki Master and I'm certified in Funeral Service Education.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Network, network, network!!
Thanks
Diane

Thank you all so much for the support
I just want thank everyone from the bottom of my broken little heart for all of the incredible support on my job loss issue. I am certainly not the only person in this situation and the support has been enourmous. Believe it not I"ve already adjusted pretty well to being home. Yesterday it really hit me as to how burned out I've really been. My brain is in major need of a break. This biz I'm in has been such a roller coaster ride and getting worse by the day. The boss I had there called me today and had me send him my resume. He told me its his mission to find me anothr job and he had a lead for me. We'll see what happens. As they say - when one door closes another door opens....
Thanks again
Diane

My daughter, working at another real estate office in another city, suffered this same fate in Novemeber, just 3 weeks after finding the perfect apartment in walking distance to the office!  She just started a better job at a higher pay yesterday.  Whew!

I hope Diane finds something quickly. Cheers and Blessings!

I can't thank you enough for the all of the incredible support! There are so many people now in my situation and you all are being so nice to me! And thanks so much to Sharon for posting.  The boss I had at this last job called me this morning with a job lead and I sent him my resume. A local bank is opening a new residential mortgage division and he thinks they might be able to use me. I also got a call from a broker friend of mine who offered me a 38 lot new construction site to sell. I have to look at the website for that builder and decide. I'm leary on this one as its straight commission and we all know how long it can take to get paid sometimes. Onward and forward and thanks again so much to Sharon and all of you for the support. It really makes me feel good.

Sharon/Diane,

Unfortunately these are tough time we are living through, but tough times can make us stronger if we have the right approach.

I read through the comments which show a lot of support which is Step 1.  Look around for support.

Step 2--reach out for support.  Join Active Rain and other networking groups. I have known many people who use www.LinkedIn.com

Step 3 Keep a positive attitude.  The best advise I received as new agent 20+ years ago was to surround myself with positive people.  Put blinders on and earplugs in your ears.  If you suffer a major disappointment allow yourself 24 hours to feel sorry for yourself.  We are human. Then start the next day with positive attitude again.

Good luck, Diane

Diane & Sharon,

Thanks for posting the update.  Even though you are not alone and it's not easy being 'let go' and the why me's have set in it sounds like you are doing okay.

This also happened to me about one & half years ago.  Like you I didn't realize how burned out I was.  Fortunately my husband could support both of us if I didn't work.  After several months an opportunity fell in my lap to teach real estate classes.  Looking back I think I died and went to heaven.  Prior to changing careers to real estate 20+ years ago I had been a teacher.  Now I teach adults and love it.

I hope you find your dream job soon.  Keep an open mind.

Mary

It's sometimes hard to see how one door opens when another one closes, thanks so much Mary for sharing that, it reminds us of how opportunities can present themselves and open a great new leg on the journey for us.
