“What do you think it will cost to remodel my bathroom?”

This is a common question I get from my clients. Unfortunately, trying to give a client some idea of cost is difficult until we have actually agreed on a plan and picked the furniture, appliances, fixtures and materials to be used. Even making price comparisons from one project to another is difficult due to the vast cost differences from one product to another. For example, one client may ask for a specific type of stone flooring while another may not care if ceramic tiles are used. Another example is the client who wants high-end, Hans Grohe fixtures, while another may select a more basic Kohler fixture. The cost difference here can be as much as $1000! Regardless of what product the client wants, the installation labor always remains constant. And, regardless of what type of tile product that is chosen the cost of installing that tile is always calculated on square footage of materials to be installed. The final cost on any project can vary 10% to 110% and more based on the products selected.
