Here is what I use on my company's website as my profile.  Several people use very brief snippets to describe themselves.  I would appreciate your input and constructive criticism.

Michael and his junior high school sweetheart are transplants to Tallahassee from Illinois.  Both are graduates of Ozark Christian College and hold masters degrees from Western Illinois University.  They have three children, the oldest two in medical school with the youngest an undergrad at Western Illinois.

Michael lives in the Piney-Z community here in Tallahassee.  He specializes in this area which is a Community Development District and includes a community pool, fitness room and lodge.  For recent information on Piney-Z call Michael or check his website:  www.pineyzsales.com .

Michael used Frog Realty when moving to Tallahassee and enjoyed the Frog experience so much he joined the team.  He has over 25 years business experience to draw upon in assisting you through the home buying or selling experience.  "Please allow me the opportunity to earn the right to serve your real estate needs," is Michael's mantra; clearly denoting his customer focus.  Give Michael a call today!

Michael - I have a less personal and more formal profile that includes licenses, professional associations, practice areas, geographic service areas, etc.  However, my only real comment is that I would play up the Victor Kiam angle of "I enjoyed the Remmington razor so much that I bought the company."  It is a great and persuasive tool.  Similarly, I would also bolster I live where I work angle.  We have two agents who live in the communities that they currently sell (actually bought and then where recruited to become agents) and they have instant credibility when they talk about value, liveability, etc.

Michael -

your profile will either strike a note with potential clients or will immediately turn them off.  Focus less on you and more on what you can do for the potential client.

Real estate today is less agent-centric, and more consumer-centric.  Also, try to sell the virtues of your broker and the firm.  Today's buyers and sellers want to be affiliated with winning solutions, not some small independent who can't match the larger national and global firms that have dedicated resources to getting listings advertised, as well as better information to potential buyers, including the ability to assist buyers and sellers with such things as home warranty, financing (i.e. "this home comes with a mortgage", connection and moving services and ancilliary services to make the move out/in smoothly)

Hi Michael,

I think some personal info *is* a good idea because you never know what piece of info will click with somebody. I also think we're in a business where the relationship matters a lot and most people want to enjoy the company of the agent they'll be working with - so giving them some idea of who you are is a plus.  I also agree with those who wrote that telling people what you can do for them is very important.  There are some great examples of really well constructed profiles on this site.  I've started a folder of some of my favorites for inspiration.  I very much need to redo mine but haven't had a moment.
