Carlos is a small town nearby Alexandria that has a population of 329. The town was named after nearby Lake Carlos, the largest lake on The Chain of Lakes. Most residents of Lake Carlos have Alexandria mailing addresses except for some located on the far northeast end of the lake.
The town began to form in 1879 after an Indian uprising and the official townsite was chosen in 1903 after the railroad was completed.
