in the game

I was enjoying a warm cup of coffee and yummy pancakes when I received an e-mail from my mom telling me that there was a newspaper article in the Beacon Journal regarding the local Real Estate market. I proceeded to read the article on my i-phone even though my laptop was ten feet away. I guess that is laziness at its finest...Anyways, I began reading and became instantly depressed....Then I thought, well this article has got to get better and it began to show some optimism towards the end. I put my i phone down and thought to myself, "I hope none of my Realtors read this article today in the paper."

As the media and the newspapers continue to talk negatively about the real estate market, it becomes increasingly difficult to focus on doing our jobs as Realtors well. It causes morale to decline and confidence to fail. Selling in this business has changed in the last 12 months and now we have to educate the consumers differently than we have in the past. Interest rates and still low and buyers have opportunities now that they have not had in a long time. This is also a great first time homebuyer opportunity. As for sellers, it is not the best time to sell, but instead of refinancing they may be able to make a move into a different home for less. They would have to factor in what their home is realistically worth into the equation.

We have had a couple of warmer days and that always helps our industry as well. Consumers are looking for knowledgable professionals to help them with what is probably their largest financial investment they will ever make...Let's make sure that we are still in the game of Real Estate as Realtors. Be ready because I know that there is always business to be had if we continue to work to reach the conumers.

How...You ask? Well, that seems to be changing as well. Realtor.com is starting for focus more on social networking, blogging, and internet adverting. Locally, we need to be reaching out to our contacts as the Real Estate expert for their neighborhood. There are great opportunities to do that especially with the market changing so much currently.

In closing, I hope I have inspired you to stay in the game of Real Estate. Take a moment and try to be consistent in your approach to this business because Real Estate is still happening every day, so make sure you are part of the game.
