Google has done it again. It is upgrading its mobile maps to enable people with mobile phones or other wireless devices to share their whereabouts with family and friends.

This new feature their calling 'Latitude' will add a social feature to google maps. Google is promising to avoid privacy concerns by promising not to retain uses information except for the last location and making it a voluntary program.

Google says "See your friends on a map and get in touch" The system will be able to follow people traveling in the United States and 26 other countries. The users can decide who can monitor their locations.

What do you think?

I think that kids today don't have a shot of getting away with even half of we what did as kids :-)~

Greetings from the North Georgia Mountains!

Lara, somehow kids will always find a way!

Michael: I'm still trying to get used to all this...I kinda liked being able to 'disappear' from time-to-time. That's why I resisted getting a cell phone for so long...

For someone with kids, when they are old enough to get cell phones and go out on their own, I think this is a great idea. I like a private company doing it much better than the government.
