Don't do the math, let's just say there were a lot of candles on the cake. I had a wonderful celebration over the past weekend with one of my children making the trip back from college to surprise me. I didn't watch my calorie intake, stayed up late, did some work but managed to put FUN time with family and friends first. I was spoiled with well wishes, cards, and some lovely thoughtful gifts. But most importantly I decided to mark this day with celebrating life.
Celebrating life - to me that meant embracing that getting older is going to happen so make it great! I have been very negligent in keeping up with annual doctor appointments. So this was the day that I got on the phone and lined up those appointments. Taking good care of me will make sure that life is lived with quality so no more I'm just too busy or will get around to that thought. Done, appointments made. I sure enjoyed my birthday out to eat and cake but a commitment to trim down and eat healthy was made on that day as well.
The challenge to you ... will you celebrate life and rejoice in getting older? Shhhh ... as I blew out the candles I wished to maintain looking at life as a positive. With sunshine you see so much better and bring light into other lives as well.
