It Was The Night Before Taxes!! LOL
'Twas' the night before taxes,
and all throught the house,
not a creature was stirring,
not even my spouse!!
Our money was hidden,
in the closet with care,
in hopes that 'Ole Uncle Sam',
Would not notice it there!!
The children were all nestled,
all snug in their beds,
in hope that St. Nicholas,
would be there with friends!
MaMa in her 'kerchief',
and I in my cap,
had just settled down,
for a long winters nap.
When out on the lawn,
we heard such a clatter,
It seemed 'Uncle Sam',
had something to chatter.
Away to the chimney,
we flew in a flash,
Tore up the documents,
and burned up the stash.
The moon how it wispered,
the winter...so cold..
It seemed like our savings,
were suddenly stolen.
With a little ole tax man,
and 'MAN' he was 'QUICK',
I knew in a moment it ,
must be 'Saint Dick'.
As dry leaves before,
the ole hurricane fly,
they went for my wallet,
then took to the fly.
And then in a twinkling,
I heard on the 'woof',
the pencling and penning,
of each little woof.
"No Dasher! no, Dancer!
No, Prancer or Vixen!
No, Comet! No Cupid!
No, Donner, Nor Blitzen!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
They dashed away! Dashed away!
With my wallet and all!"
He was dressed all in colors,
Red, White and Blue.
I thought in a moment,
I'd be covered in 'soot.'
His eyes how they twinkled,
and oh how soooo... merry,
I guess they had found,
to give my 'money' to charity.
The sump of his pipe,
he held tite on his cheap.
and the smoke it encircled,
his head like a reap.
He did have the looks,
of a sly guy with jelly.
and I laughed at the sight,
of an overweight belly.
He was chubby and plump,
a witty old elf,
I laughed when I saw him,
In spite of myself.
A wink of his eye,
and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know,
I had something to dread.
He spoke not a word,
but went straight to his work,
And stole all my money,
then turned with a jerk.
And showing his finger,
the middle one, 'YOU KNOW'!!,
And giving a nod,
up my chimney he rose.
He sprang to his sleigh,
to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew,
with my money and a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim,
as he drove out of sight,
Drink to me, "ALL"
Hope you have a good fight!
