Free Publicity Through Active Rain

By
Real Estate Agent with William Raveis Real Estate RES.0772823

Active Rain has brought me clients in the past and yesterday it brought me my 15 minutes of fame!  Not even two minutes after posting about the expanded tax credits, I received a phone call from an Associated Press reporter who saw my post on Active Rain.  He interviewed me and my name appears in the first three words of the article and at the end of the article.  How cool is that!

It gets better, this morning, I got an e-mail from a friend who said her boyfriend was on his way to work and heard me quoted on WCBS radio!

The article is called "Housing Industry Welcomes Homebuyer Tax Credit".

For Gail Robinson, a real estate agent in Connecticut who has seen her business limp along since the stock market plummeted last year, it was the best news in ages.

With Congress considering a new tax credit intended to turn around the battered housing market, she hopes lawmakers have found the long-awaited silver bullet. She was busy Thursday sending out about 200 e-mails to potential clients about federal plans to give buyers a subsidy of up to $15,000 for all home purchases.

The article ends with this...

Robinson was hoping the potential tax credit could boost attendance this weekend at an open house she's holding at a renovated property with an ocean view. She says it's a steal at $285,000.

Thank you, Active Rain!

Congrats on the great Publicity. I as well have ejoyed similar moments. Nar's Realtor Magazine called me last month just after I posted an article. My interview will be featured in a March article. Not nearly as prominent as yours, but some notoriety none the less.

I actually read your quote this morning on the AP wire while doing some research on the subject.  That's great publicity, I'm just bummed they didn't call me.

The key point here is that it could have been one of you that got the call.  All I did was post on a hot topic faster than anyone else.  Next time there is a hot topic, make sure you put up a post on AR and maybe you'll get the next call!

Hi Gail ~ Yowza! That's such a great write-up - to lead, to get recognition for your pro-active business activities, and to end with a super plug for your listing - I don't think it could get any better.  And so often (at least with our paper) you're holding your breath until something's published because often the words get twisted or the point made in the article isn't one you agree with, etc.   On the radio and this awesome article - that takes the cake.  Congratulations.

Renae - If AR didn't bring us such wonderful business opportunities, it wouldn't be as much fun.  Making friends, learning, and making money.  It's an unbeatable combination.

Elizabeth - Yeah, I've had my words set in the wrong context before, so you're right it really doesn't get any better than this.  Thanks.

Well you can't beat that kind of publicity!  Did they print the address of the open house?  That would have just been excellent!

Kathy, No, but a Google search of GAIL ROBINSON CONNECTICUT provides a link to my Active Rain profile as the first entry and I put a vFlyer brochure of the Open House on my AR blog.
