The fourth annual McKinney Historical Runrace is up an going. This annual event is set around the McKinney square area and the race route is laced through the gorgeous setting of the surrounding streets. Beautiful era built homes and trees serve to make the a pleasurable run.
The purpose of the run it to raise funds for a charitable cause. This year, the Samaritan Inn, a homeless shelter, will be the recipient of a portion of the proceeds. This is a well organized race which utilizes chip timing, provides munchies after the race and awards winners with prize money and trophies of the varied categories. It's a delightful time to get a little run or fitness moment in and help out a very worthy cause. There are two categories, a 5K (3.125 miles) and a 1 mile fun run/walk. Last year there were about 250 participants.
Sponsors opportunities are available. Participants can sign up on line and the cost is very minimal. A good quality T-shirt is part of the registration package.
