Matt and Meridith dropping pearls...

Getting ready for work this morning, running around in one sock as Jazzy my dog is suspiciously hiding, I was listening to Matt Laurer and Meridith Viero on The Today show. They were playing the tape of the transmission between pilot of flight 1549 ,"Sully" Sullenberger, and the air traffic controller as the fate of the aircraft was played out in the Hudson River. Calm, cool, collected on both ends. Listening to the two way conversation made you extremely tense even though you know how it is going to turn out. Amazing feat!

Speaking of feet, where is my sock???

Getting back to my story... when the tape was finished playing, Meridith commented how brave and so very calm both men were. Matt agreed and said, "They are all trained that once you panic, then you're done." That soooo correlates to our market. Panic is the beginning of the end. Calm, cool, collected. That will get us through. We have to give the "keys" back to the powers that be (no not wall street). It is what it is and it will come back around but panicking will not make it happen and will only hinder your progress. Dealing with a cool head will help plan the future of our market. It's how we deal with it that is important. So...calm...cool...collect yourself and plan, just like Sully did with Flight 1549.

Hey, found my sock. Bad dog!

Take each day one at a time and before you know it the economy will be turned around.  think positive thoughts and share a smile with someone every day.

I saw that segment this morning too with Matt and Meredith.  It reminded me that no matter what the challenge is that we're facing, keeping a calm, cool head is the way to get through it.

I couldn't agree more... as I listened to the senate last night I kept hearing them say the words "Great Depression" ... all I could think about was when Bill Clinton's term was almost over and we were at the height of economic surplus George Bush, who was running for President at the time kept saying 'Recession'... we weren't even close to a recession at the time.  What happened was the media kept playing the same sound bites and suddenly, only a few years after Bush was elected BOOM, we were in a recession...

Am I blaming it on Bush?  Well... that's not really for this commentary, however, what I will say is that if the media wants us to go to a depression era, they are on the right track.  It's not about what is going on, it's about perception of what is going on. If the media makes all of America, big business, small business, average Joe, suddenly panic then we are all done for..... What we need is what the crew of that flight had... Confidence and knowledge that if we just keep plugging along and do what we know is right it will all be OK.

This is all about focusing on what will make us better - the law of attraction if you will - not focusing all our attention on worse case scenario and scare tactics!

I think this is the same attitude we need to take in negotiations. The one with the calmest and coolest attitude and doesn't panic usually gets the better deal.
