Are you being Social?

I have become increasingly social... and while it is cool, it is also kind of weird.  I have been exchanging emails with people I haven't talked to since SIXTH grade.  That was more than 30 years ago.

Through FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, Active|Rain, YouTube and others, I am able to reconnect with people that had previously been lost to the sands of time.  It is an amazing and interesting time in which we live.

A few months ago, I wrote an experimental post using a couple of keywords from my youth.  I used to roller skate and I posted up the name of the rink, the city, my high school and a few other things.  It was really cool to have a few emails from people that were searching for those exact terms.

One of the tools in my social bag is called Retaggr.  Basically, it is like an electronic business card with updated information about all of the places you can find me.  It even allows you to quickly connect with me on multiple platforms.

(Over on the sidebar, under my name, there is a little widget that says "retaggr". Hover over that with your mouse...)

So, do we know each other? There are a few Lane Baileys out there... I am friends with several on FaceBook. I have actually gotten calls from people looking for one of the other Lane Baileys. Don't worry, I don't mind at all. I'm happy to try to help any way I can... I know that I dominate the search results for the name.

I'm going to post up soon a little more of my history...

Over 2,000 homes sold…..

Nice tool to somewhat simplify the barrage of networking sources.  Just started Facebook about 5 months ago and I have been shockingly surprised at the results.  It is like a networking party 24 hours a day everyday.......

I've used this tool, and I really like it, kind of like a business card online. People can find me in all the Social network places I'm at.

Russ - For me it really didn't fit with my business, because I grew up 10 hours from where I live now... but if there are other ex-pats here, there might be some affininity marketing opportunities there... but it was mostly to dig up old friends.

Tim - Yes it is...  And it grows exponentially.

Steve - Have fun with it.  It is pretty cool.

Chris & Karen - That is exactly what it is.
