Sherman Library and Gardens is located in Corona del Mar on a little over two acres, and is a horticultural museum. Located right off Coast Highway, and surrounded by homes in the Village of Corona del Mar, you feel as though you are in a tropical paradise. Sherman Gardens is a research library and focuses in the areas of California, Arizona parts of Nevada, and the Pacific Southwest. Because it is a research library, the materials do not leave the premises as opposed to other libraries.
Founded in 1966 by Arnold Haskell, Sherman Library and Gardens was originally named in memory of Moses H. Sherman who was an educator. Sherman Gardens has a large volunteer base who assist with caring for the plants and flower beds. There are also Docents whose primary function is to provide tours which are educational for visitors and students. Appointments can be made for these tours.
Sherman Gardens also has a care to have lunch and enjoy the beautiful and serene surroundings named Cafe Jardin. Sherman Gardens is also available for weddings or private events.
Classes are also available to the public for a fee and may include topics such as caring for indoor plants, or classes on Orchids. Visitors are also welcome to come and view Sherman Library and Gardens for a small admission fee at the door. Memberships are also available and have many benefits, for more information, please view their website.
