Columbia SC     Fort Jackson Raises Basic Allowance For Housing

Buying an off post home is now more affordable for active-duty personnel due to an increase in the monthly Basic Allowance for Housing.

The allowance covers the mortgage payment, interest, taxes, insurance and utilities.

A single E-5 could receive roughly $950, while an E-5 with dependents could receive close to $1275 each month.  All the following homes are close to the fort and priced to sell.

Leesburg Road Area    $129,900                                   NE Columbia    $149,900

NE Columbia      $139,900
