It's time for Congress to wake up and start taxing consumption and not income. Think of the potential impact on getting us out of the currrent recession and basing taxes FAIRLY. I realize that the federal government needs income...this will not only give them an increase, but all of us would have choices on how to allocate our income. Bob - The FairTax is the best stimulus plan for our country. But the federal government will not do anything to make this happen. Unless we as citizens apply pressure to our Representatives and Senators at both the state and federal levels.

The tax code has been used to influence our behavior ever since its inception. It is as much a social modification tool as it is a tool for income. They like the control that they can exert through the current system. Their power to control would be much less with a Fair Tax and that is why they won't do it and that is exactly why we should force them to.
If your Representative or Senator is not a supporter of the FairTax call them.

I hate knowing that when I start my own small business I'm going to be unfairly taxed because "it's bad that I'm making too much money." The Fair Tax definitely needs to replace what we call our fair and balanced tax system. -Kat
Thanks everybody for the great comments! I have a few more posts in mind regarding the Fair tax. I am just sick of politicians from BOTH parties uses the tax code for class warfare and vote buying.
I think that I understand our taxes. Lie cheat and steal and then you will get appointed to a high office be a Democrat.
It sure would be nice to see the Fair Tax implemented. So much productive time and energy is wasted on accounting and tax records every year. Not to mention billions of dollars are paid to tax preparers to have them figure out what is owed.
As for our new Treasury Secretary, he is a complete embarassment to himself and the Obama administration. As far as I'm concerned this guy should be doing some prison time for tax evasion instead of being reward with a Cabinet position.
Bob- We must take our country back!! I have heard commentary on the fair tax -vs- flat tax. I would love your opinion. I am just trying to get educated.
