Last Saturday my daughter, 81 year old father, and I went to the local shopping mall.
Either the economy is getting better or there were some FANTASTIC deals going on because the parking lot was full.
"What incredible luck" we thought as a car was leaving the 2nd space closest to the main door. But alas, there was a motorcycle in front of us scouring the lot for a space.
Much to our surprise, the motorcycle rider pointed to the now vacated parking spot and with a wave told us to take it.
Did Mr. Anonymous Motorcycle Rider see my 81 year old father in the front seat? Did he think my 20 something daughter was cute? Or was he just a nice guy? We will never know. What I do know is the 3 of us let out a collective "WOW"!
My daughter then said "well I guess we need to pay that forward".
She got me thinking about the work I do...
Have I "paid it forward" to the co-operative REALTORS® that have either sold my listings or worked with me and my buyer's on theirs?
Have I "paid it forward" to the home inspectors that provide excellent service with last minute notice? To the attorneys and their assistants, loan officers, and title agents that have gone above and beyond to get the deals done?
But mostly, do we as a profession pay it forward to our clients and communities?
I hope so.
So, Mr. Anonymous Motorcycle Rider, thank you. Professionally and personally I will "pay it forward".
