The idea of saving a commission fee is the motivating factor for for-sale-by-owners. Century 21 has a great portfolio that we as agents can provide to FSBO's, listing 10 reasons why it is not a good idea to sell your own property. I have some observations to add.
I have tracked the fsbo's in my market and noticed that the listings have not changed in over one year! Since I started tracking fsbo's, not one of the listed properties has sold and any that have disappeared off the site were subsequently sold through a Realtor! I also noticed the increasing number of fsbo sites fighting for listings, with a grand total of 18 sites in the Ontario marketplace. Subsequently, a complete database of all fsbo's does not exist. In addition to that, the sites all require up front fees with no guarantee of success!
