I have mixed feelings about Obama's visit today to Ft Myers in Lee County. On one hand, it brought attention to our dilema...being the highest in the nation with foreclosures. On the other hand, this is somewhat a misnomer. Lee County is such a vast area with many different types of communities. Sanibel and Captiva Islands have few foreclosures and short sales being, for the most part, an area where people do not have to buy nor do they have to sell. In addition, because the islands are at near build out, we did not have the problem of builders overdeveloping and causing inflationary prices. I hope I will not be forced to defend the market to the many inquiries suggesting that the islands are one big fire sale. Our "showings" have increased as have our contract. Yes, we are seeing too many "bottom feeders", but it takes little time for them to come to our reality.
Connie Mack, our representative, was on Morning Joe restating that he is and has been against this stimulus package throughout.
I guess only time will tell.
Please let me know your thoughts on the subject.
