I was putting my open house signs out this passed Sunday and there was another fellow realtor doing the same a few steps ahead of me. I was in my car approaching the next corner when a young girl was walking this huge dog. The realtor passed the dog and then it whipped around and attacked her. From her buttocks, down her thigh to the back of her knee. I froze at first and then called 911. It seemed like it took forever for the police and ambulance to come. I have talked to her since and she is recovering. When the realtor received the police report, the woman said that the realtor provoked the dog. The nerve of her. I was an eye witness and saw everything first hand. Please fellow realtors, even if a dog seems friendly, walk on the other side of the street. We take enough risks in this business.
I read years ago that German Shepards attack more people than any other dog. I don't know if that's true of not, but you are right, never trust an unknown dog.
Unless of course it's one of my Golden Retrievers.
What a horrible experience, I hope she make a full recovery.

How very terrible. I was bit by a collie when I was about 14 years old as the owner was sweeping out his truck and I was just passing the house. I ran all the way home crying. When we went back to talk to him about it and to see if the dog had his shots, the man swore the dog had not been home at the time I was bit. We had to get the police involved and it devastated me for awhile. Hope you both are OK.
Glad you were there to be able to call 911. Hopefully the dog is under "house arrest" while the incident is investigated. Hopefully the other agent will make a full recovery and your witnessing the incident will help keep this particular dog from attacking someone else.
Dog owners are always protecting their dogs when they bite people, it's their way of NOT admitting fault. They say" My Dog never bites"
How absolutely awful! I know that people want to protect their animals but should they be allowed to do that in cases where a person is seriously injured as a result of that animal? That's just awful! I hope you were able to give a statement to the police since you saw it all and I'm really glad you were there to call 911. This girl's scrupples make me believe she wouldn't have called anyone.

Maureen, This is terrible. That poor agent, just minding her own business.... People need to know what kind of animal they have. OK just give me a cuddly kitty!
Wow, that is scary! Good thing you were there to quickly call in help. There are some big dogs that scare me, but I am not sure I would be even worried about a dog being walked on a leash. This is a good reminder to really take in your surroundings because as realtors, we walk into some sketchy situations often. I hope she gets well quickly.
Sorry to hear about this. Dogs can be such great pets and it's a shame to hear a story like this. I hope the agent gets better quickly.
You're right we need to be careful out there. That's why I'm glad I have a pistol and a permit to use it. Be parpared for the unexpected.
People always seem to think their dog will never bite. Sorry to hear this had to happen to an agent.
I did leave a statement for the police. When animal control came they had already left with the dog. This is their 2nd home. They are trying to track down animal control at their primary residence. This dog looked and acted vicious. I have a dog myself and I am a dog lover. I've just never seen anything like it. I'm in touch with her and told her I would be a witness if she needed me to be. Just be careful out there!
Sometimes we do something, innocently, but the dog sees it as aggression. Animals see, hear and smell differently from us. We carry a sign to post, Innocent behavior for us but what does the dog see? I know they don't like people who walk differently, bikes, people with walking sticks or umbrellas, etc. Maureen is right, just be careful around strange dogs.
