There's been a lot of focus on the Economic Stimulus package lately...and whatever happens, effects will take some time to be felt on a local level. Why wait? Why not see what can be done without Congress...and take charge of our own economic recovery on a local level?
This afternoon in El Presidio Park, a couple hundred people gathered to rally support behind a proposal to put a moratorium on some of the impact fees builders are charged by the City of Tucson. Check out the short version of video I shot at the rally:
The spirit of "can do" and working together to solve our problems locally...instead of waiting for Washington to trickle its manna from on high. I applaud and support the efforts of our local builders-those who build things on a day-to-day basis are ready to go to work instead of sitting around waiting for someone else to get recovery started.
SAHBA (Southern Arizona Home Builder's Association), ACT (Alliance of Construction Trades), Tucson Chamber of Commerce and other leaders & representatives spoke at today's rally.

***Consistent at least, Tucson's City Council voted yesterday to refer the proposal to committee. (yawn)
