the rest IS still unwritten!

Listening to the radio this morning, a song from Natasha Bedingfield came on.  For the first time, I paid some attention to the lyrics of this song, that I'd heard many times.  It may be a pop song, but the lyrics are very philosophical, and they make sense.

"I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just the beginning, pen's in my hand, ending unplanned"

"Today IS where your book begins
        The rest is still unwritten."

Imagine, if you will, some potential scenarios, over which you DO have control:

A) 2010 AP EVANSTON   Local Evanston Realtor has banner year!  2009 turned out to be his best year since entering the business.  Alan attributes his success to embracing Search Engine Optimization and spending a minimum of 2 hours per day maintaining his blogs at Active Rain, Facebook, Trulia, Zillow and more.  His efforts brought about a flurry of new business, and referrals from around the state, causing him to receive one of Coldwell Banker's highest National Award levels, and winning a 30-day Caribbean cruise.   Upon his return Alan & his family will attend a dinner in his honour on Friday, being held at the Michigan Shores Country Club.

or -----------------------------

B) 2010 AP EVANSTON    Local Evanston Realtor retires.  Alan May, of Coldwell Banker, announced his retirement from Real Estate in order to pursue a career in beach combing.  He and his wife of 31 years, have decided to spend their retirement island hopping in the Caribbean on a yacht they recently purchased and named the "REEL ESTATE".  Alan plans on doing some deep sea fishing, along with some snorkling, and relaxing.  He told our reporter he plans on "sitting on the beach, and having someone bring them drinks with umbrellas in them, and will throw his cell phone overboard".

When asked why he decided to give up real estate, Mr. May stated that Real Estate and 2009 had been very very good to him, and he's decided to take some of that money, and retire while he was young.

or -----------------------------

C) 2020 REUTERS JERUSALEM, ISRAEL    Local Jerusalem resident is awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize for bringing about a true peace agreement between Israel and the Muslim world.   Alan left the real estate industry in 2009, just at the beginning of the real estate market's rebound.  He decided to return to school, and received his doctorate in Political Science from the University of Chicago.  He then traveled, with his family, to Israel, where he took up residence in Jerusalem, traveling intermittently between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria and other Arab countries, in an attempt to broker a true peace.

After a short 5 years, he was appointed as Israel's UN representative, and their ambassador to the United States.  His untiring efforts with Palestinian leaders, and Israeli hard-liners, eventually brought about the now famed "May Summit", and lead to the accords that have now been signed into law.  "We anticipate many many years of peace and prosperity" stated Israel's prime minister, Shalem Dayan (grandson of Moshe Dayan).

Alan has indicated that he's planning on donating the funds from the Nobel Peace Prize to the Old Realtor's Home in downstate Illinois.

or -----------------------------

D) 2010 AP EVANSTON  a homeless man was found sleeping under the EL tracks in Evanston, and claimed he was "long missing" Realtor, Alan May.  Alan disappeared over a year ago, when the real estate market was still down.  His manager said that he'd been despondent due to decreased sales, and postulated that the market would never recover, and then he disappeared.  Curiously, the market rebounded almost immediately after his disappearance.  Authorities will attempt to confirm his story that he is indeed Alan May, after they get him cleaned up.

If it is, indeed, him... his wife and children have asked to have a word with him.

------------------------------------------------

The rest is still unwritten.    Define yourself.

Alan—This a fabulous post... had me laughing many times. You have an amazing imagination and write very well.  The next report

will state that you are the head of the UN and world peace has been accomplished!

Home is where the hearth is.

Teresa... to co-opt a popular saying: you might as well dream big, or go home!
