Special offer

For Sale - One Wife, slightly used, 1964 Model

By
Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

I found this online, and I had to share.  I found it very funny.

IMPORTANT:  I am not offering MY wife for sale.  The wife mentioned in this ad is nothing like my wife, and I have no interest in selling my wife.  Mine is a keeper, and offers will not be considered for her.

That being said, here is the ad that I found online in it's entirety.  Enjoy:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FOR SALE - One (1) Wife, slightly used, 1964 Model

Needs muffler, as it is currently VERY LOUD. Intake valve is stuck in the open position.

Rear end needs major overhaul. A crack there has grown monstrously large.

Needs re-wiring—Many wires are currently crossed.

Lots of little dings in the body, which have been covered up with too much paint in a failed effort at camouflaging them.

Needs re-upholstering—Carpet has turned a dingy gray.

Needs front-end work--Headlights are too close to the ground, and fenders are too far apart.

May not pass emissions test, as it currently produces foul clouds of malodorous gases on a regular basis,

Heater works great. Hot air is never in short supply..

Asking $500 or trade for 1984 model.

Good idea adding the disclaimer, I'm assuming your wife reads your blog.

yes, JL, she does, but that's not the reason...  my wife IS a keeper... (beside's she's not a 1964 model).. I have no intention of trading her in.

Alan,

Some guy had a lot of time on his hands.  He might have even more if his wife reads it.

Which identity crisis is that Liz?

Brenda, I imagine, from the sound of his ad, that he's LOOKING for more time on his hands!

Alan ..Am I too Assume this is an American Made model, the foreign models seam to hold up much better to the regular wear and tear of every day use. Sorry I thought we were talking about used cars..wrong blog

Steve, the person who posted this "for sale" ad (not me), didn't indicate whether it was American made, or foreign.  Given the description it could be either.

I am willing to trade my slightly used American made 1959 model husband (has many of the same exhaust issues) very reliable daily driver with only occasional breakdowns, for a 1965 Chevy Corvair convertible.....

According the Kelly's Blue Book, Betina, a 1959 American made husband isn't equal value to a 1965 Chevy Corvair Convertible model.  Would you consider a American Motors Gremlin, or a Ford Pinto of the same circa??  They can't GIVE those away.

Hi Alan - Were there any takers?  lol  In today's contemporary society we are more interested in "throw-aways."  Sometimes it's easier to just replace the old one.  lol

I made a joke last year about giving my daughter away and I thought it was funny until I had someone call that really did want to buy her and I had to call the FBI.

Jon, I didn't see any takers.... they would have had to trade in something worse... right?

Todd, that'd be funny, if it weren't so creepy and scary.
